The 2026 F1 practice schedule

FP1, FP2 and FP3 for all 23 rounds of the 2026 season — each row links to that Grand Prix, where every session is shown in your own timezone.

What time is FP1 (and F1 practice)?

Free practice is where the weekend starts. A standard Grand Prix weekend has three practice sessions — FP1 and FP2 on Friday and FP3 on Saturday morning — but the exact start time is different for every Grand Prix and depends where you are. This hub lists every 2026 practice session and links each one to its race page, where the time is converted to your own timezone automatically — no timezone maths. New to the weekend format? Each row links to that Grand Prix’s page, where every session — FP1, FP2 and FP3 included — is shown in your own timezone with a countdown. The six sprint weekends run only one practice session; see below for why.

When are FP1, FP2 and FP3 held?

On a standard Grand Prix weekend the three practice sessions are spread across the first two days. FP1 and FP2 both run on Friday — an early session and a later one, each an hour long — and FP3 is the final hour on Saturday morning before qualifying that afternoon. They are the only time teams get to run their cars on the weekend’s track and tyres before it counts, so the times move around the calendar, from early-morning starts for the Asia-Pacific rounds to evening sessions under lights at the night races.

Because a fixed clock time only helps viewers in one timezone, every session on this site is converted to yours on the individual race pages. Pick any round above to see its practice sessions — and qualifying and the race — in your local time, with a countdown.

Why sprint weekends only have one practice session

Six of the 23 2026 rounds are sprint weekends, and they run just one practice session — FP1 on Friday morning. The format is compressed to fit an extra race in: Sprint Qualifying replaces Friday’s second practice and the Saturday Sprint replaces third practice, so FP2 and FP3 simply don’t exist on those weekends. That is a big reason sprint weekends tend to be less predictable — teams have far less running before the racing starts. For the full running order, see the 2026 F1 sprint schedule and how the F1 sprint works.

17 of the 23 rounds run the full three-session programme; the 6 sprint rounds run FP1 only. Want the sessions that follow practice? The 2026 F1 qualifying schedule lists every Grand Prix qualifying, and the full 2026 race schedule shows the whole calendar in your timezone.
