What are intermediate tyres in F1?

Grooved green-marked tyres for a damp or drying track — the crossover between slicks and full wets.

Intermediate tyres, marked with a green sidewall, are the tyre of choice for a damp track, light rain, or a circuit that is drying out. Their tread clears a moderate amount of water while still offering more grip than full wets once the worst of the rain passes. Timing the switch from wets to inters, or from inters to slicks, is one of the trickiest calls in a changeable race. Run them on a dry line and they overheat and fall apart quickly.
